Being Domestic

Thanks to these ladies...I have a pantry full of salsa, apple pie filling and plum syrup! It has been fun to learn how to can and be more domestic. It takes such a long time BUT I am thrilled to be preserving foods for the year. I also made raspberry freezer jam for the first time this August. Feeling pretty good about my efforts!

I am especially appreciative of Tara getting me to go to my Grandma Williamson's basement to search for glass jars and other treasures. I miss my grandma! I wish she was still alive to teach me her tricks and work along side her, now that I am older and have a desire to do things like this. She was always so thrifty and put great effort and care into everything she did. I've felt such a strong connection with her while I have been canning. I bet she is in heaven smiling down on us, glad that we are putting to use her canning tools and jars that she loved and spent so much time with.

canning is so rewarding. It's hard work but you feel so fulfilled afterwards!!

Oh Brit- you are so much more domesticated than you give yourself credit for. For example- your syrup batch vs. mine and Candice's.:) Thank you too for being such a fun friend to do things with. I had a great day!
