What a night for the power to be out! Luckily the cake was decorated and the baked potatoes and crock pot of chili were already baked and hot for our guests before the power went out. Then we lit all of our candles and pulled out the flashlights. It was memorable to say the least...actually it was awesome! I wouldn't have had it any other way. I appreciated not having the distraction of the television and having to be creative. Even among the chaos and Saige continually asking me to turn the lights on...there was a closeness felt among the group that you don't feel with the distraction of electricity. I know one thing for sure...I had a bunch of candles and flashlights but could definitely use to stock up on batteries and invest in a lantern or two for future preparedness!
I can't believe how quickly that year crept up on me! I remember thinking a year ago after having Ridge, "What have I gotten myself into?!?!" The answer...One of my greatest blessings! I love my little man so so much! I am so tickled by every new little quirk in his darling personality. Nothing warms my heart more than the way he snuggles up on my shoulder. Nothing makes me smile wider than the way he makes cute animal sound and laughs, giggles and smiles constantly. I love love love him to pieces!

Ridge is getting so BIG! What a fun cake. Where did you come up with the idea? I want to make a fun cake for Deb, her day is coming up soon.
Your cake was beuatiful. Wow! I should probably get with the program and make better cakes for my kids' birthdays. I'm so glad that you had such a fun night with your party. Funny how I came home and wrote about being prepared without reading your blog first. Great minds think a like.
