This was suppose to be a relaxing day...ha! We ended up packing it all in. Vacation is not for wimps or for resting is it?
CORONADO ISLAND NAVY BEACH:
I was looking forward to a relaxing day at the beach and it was! Because Corkey was in the Navy (he just retired this year) we were able to stay on base and go to Coronado Islands Navy base beach. It was not crowded a bit. We had a blast hanging out in the waves, collecting shells and building sand castles. Corkey and Cody went swimming and caught a few waves. The kids and I played it safe and didn't go past our waists. Saige was adventurous and wanted to hold our hands and jump the waves. Ridge was more cautious and didn't like the cold water very much. He had a blast running around and of course throwing sand! My favorite part...watching Cody relax and be totally involved with his kids, digging into the sand and building an awesome sandcastle with his little lady and playing with his son.
HISTORICAL SAN DIEGO OLD TOWN:
Then we decided to go to Old Town for some culture and late lunch. Wow...It was busier here than all the amusement parks! Ridge was sacked right out on Cody's shoulder despite the noise. No time for naps on vacation! Oh well, we ate at Cafe Coyote and walked around the shops. We went to the original town square and went for a horse drawn wagon ride, which was cool and Ridge loved the clip clop of the horses hooves.
SAN DIEGO ZOO:
A last minute decision...we were just going to drive by it but I was enticed by the zoo at night signs. But the pregnant lady thought it would be cool to push it to the limit. When we first went in there was a fun band playing and a ton of hula hoops for the kids. I kept bending down to help Saige and I am pretty sure that this is when my camera must have fallen out of my purse, or maybe the parking lot, but when I went to take my first pic...no camera. I wasn't too stressed because I thought I must have left it in the car. So we went through the zoo and I decided not to stress to much about taking pic but snagged a few with Cody's iphone. Unfortunately when we got in the car when it was very dark and late...no camera! AHHHHH! I was freaking out about all those memories lost. I said a quick prayer that we would be able to find it and if not that I would be able to keep my sanity. Luckily, someone turned it into the lost and found, what a relief. So not many pics of the San Diego Zoo.
Anyway I thought they would have a lot of cool lighted things but the visibility still wasn't that great and we felt very rushed. However, we did get to see some really cool things like pygmy hippos, the cutest tiny koala bear, panda bears, gorillas, and Ridge's favorite the black panther and much much more. Saige took a huge hit running to catch up with her daddy and skinned up her knee pretty good. Poor little lady. We got ice cream cones to cheer us all up. The advantage was that it was not crowded and it was much cooler, but it was hard to see the animals especially toward the end and a lot were sleeping but it was a really cool and big zoo. We were all ready for bed!
