Saige has been soooo excited to start preschool. Nearly every day this summer she asked to either have a play date or asked when she was going to start school. She is very social and very into being and doing not just staying home being bored with mom. So she was up at the crack of dawn, which is normal for her, wanting to eat a good breakfast to start her day off right. So I indulged her with pancakes and eggs instead of our usual cold cereal, got her all dolled up and posed for those traditional first day of school pictures. Ridge wanted in on the action but Saige kept reminding him that she was the big school girl who was almost 5 and that he would have to wait a couple more years to be old like her. She was a little concerned and told Ridge as she was holding his hand to get in the car that he needed to be a big boy and take care of mom while she was gone and Kaeda too when she gets here.
Lucky for me Saige has some great classmates and generous mommies who are going to carpool her to and from school everyday since I don't have a vehicle to actually participate in the pool. My end of the deal is to drive down to Garden City to drop and pick her up so they don't have to come all the way up to Bridgerland. Done. I am so grateful for this service! Otherwise I would have to buy a bigger vehicle which is in no way affordable or drive her to and from preschool in Laketown every Tuesday and Thursday which isn't so desirable either. I am so blessed to have such generous friends. THANK YOU!
As Saige loaded up so eagerly without even glancing back, I reflected on my own precious memories of Melody Lane Preschool in Logan. Some of my first memories are of doing and making cool things in preschool. I hope she creates some cherished memories as well and never loses her enthusiasm for learning. I hope that she will "Find Yourself. Be Yourself. And be OKAY with That!" and not get wrapped up in drama that school age kids get into while trying to fit in. Since I can't reverse time and keep her little and in the shelter of my own arms, I pray that she will have wonderful friends, wise teachers and the confidence to make right choices even when it is not the popular thing to do. Go GET 'EM SAIGE!
