TRAVELING: Day One

Our First BIG Family Vacation: Lundgren's in San Diego, CA August 2010I joke that we are always on vacation because we live in Bear Lake and try to have as much free fun as possible in the beautiful place where we live. One day Courtney, Cody's Dad, said "Let's go to San Diego!" He offered to pay for our plane tickets and hotel and ended up paying for much more. How could I pass that up? Even being very 7 1/2 months pregnant. We couldn't. So Saige and Ridge flew for the first time at 4 and 2. Surprisingly they were very good travelers. They were excited to carry on their backpacks and act so big. The escalators and elevators of course were a hit too. They were excited about going on the first bus ride too, the shuttle to and from the airport. Corkey rented a new Nissan Altima and car seats too. So we traveled comfortably and very well surprisingly. The kids were so excited to fly and I am so glad that they were able to have this experience and that they handled everything so well, even napping in the car seats since we didn't take a second to nap at the hotel. Oh ya, the hotel, that was also a first for the kids. The rooms were quite comfortable and roomy with a continental breakfast every morning. They loved taking the elevator for breakfast and playing on the blue park at the Navy Lodge almost more than anything on our trip.
