Sea World: Day Two

After our first restful night in the Navy Lodge, we set out for the day at Sea World. We arrived right at 9 to beat the crowds. After buying the kids their cute Shamu hats, since I forgot to pack any hats, we enjoyed seeing most of the park in the cool morning breeze with no lines and not many people. It was fun to touch the sting rays. I was amazed at how they would stop and want you to pet them kinds like a dog does. While looking over the eels tanks Ridge decided it would be a good idea to kick his flip flop off in the water. "SON! What were you thinking? Why did you do that?..."Cause, I wanted to". Nice. So after having the tank attendant fish it out we continues on our journey. LOL!

Ridge was super excited about seeing the sharks and I thought the underwater tunnel and moving belt was pretty cool. The seals were noisy and entertaining. The kids got a kick out of them barking. Saige does a pretty good seal impersonation. Flamingos are always a favorite, such beautiful funny birds. We watched the dolphins relaxing and swimming around before their big shows that we would watch later on.

Then it was off to see the artic animals. Ridge will tell you, "The polar bear came right up to my face!!!" It was pretty cool to watch them come out and meander around and then all of a sudden one did come right up to the glass. A big walrus, eating shrimp also came right up to the glass and it was like, "She was kissing me!" Saige says. We enjoyed watching the white baluga whales swim and spin putting on a show for us. Of course we checked out the penguins, which seem to be fasinating to Ridge. I especially liked this area because it was so nice and cool.

Then it was off to the shows...my camera battery died so I didn't get as many pics as I might have liked but we used Cody's iphone as a back up and got a few more. We saw Shamu, The Dolphins (which had way cool acrobatics and diving), the Seals (The kids were so tired by this point and Ridge actually took a nap on our laps), and Ridge's favorite The Pet Show. He still sings the song "Who Let the Dogs Out?" including the version that he a papa made up on the plane ride home. They were all great! Saige came away with her special snow seal named Tricky and killer whale named Cindy. Ridge scored with two packages full of artic animals and sea animals. They have not put those animals away since. Even on the trip they couldn't wait to get in the car or to the hotel so they could play with their suviners.

After leaving while the kids napped in the car we drove ALL over and even drove to see the San Diego Temple, which is so unique and beautiful. Cody commented that he wished we would have brought our temple clothes and done a session there. That would have been cool. He also expressed his desire to do the temple work for his dads side of the family. I hope that this is an ambition that we will follow through with one day soon. What a wonderful way to start out our vacation!
