We departed for the adventure of a lifetime...this time with a rented stroller so that we didn't have to haul kids around when they got tired. Very good decision! This zoo was so spacious and unlike any other zoo I've ever been. This pregnant lady covered a lot of ground. It was cool to see the animals in a more natural habitat than a small cage and many more of each animal in herds as they are trying to preserve the wildlife with several breading projects and recovery programs. The magnitude of the park was overwhelming! We took several pictures and enjoyed every minute of our adventure. I enjoyed the Journey into Africa Safari Tour because we got to see so much and I didn't have to walk it. Some of our favorite memories of the day were feeding and petting the deer, the parrot peeing on Ridge's shoe, Saige loved the baby rhino that was only six days old, watching several including baby elephants, the carousel ride, the lagoon was nice and shady with tons of cool birds and playing on the parks, including the kids water park even if we did have to change their clothes (lucky we brought a change of clothes). Of course I had a camera malfunction this day too, seemed like it got too hot or something and wouldn't turn on. I don't blame it...it was over 100 degrees the whole day. Saige came away with a cool stuffed rhino since that was her favorite animal to see and Ridge got some more safari animals to add to his safari collection.
After the Wild Animal Park we drove around seeing the sites, decided to grab subway and head to the coast to see the sunset. Too bad the traffic was so crowded and we only saw it from the car. If I would have known it would disappear so quickly I would have snapped some traveling car pic, it was beautiful. But we still made it to grab these shots and see the massive waves crash against the cliffs. The car rental place probably wasn't too thrilled with us but we enjoyed eating our dinner watching the ocean.
