Don't wish it away...

“It is the mothers of young children I would like to address first. These are golden years for you. These are years when you will probably do the most important work of your lives. Don’t wish away your years of caring for small children. Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans. This is a time of great opportunity for you to build the kingdom. When you teach children to love their Heavenly Father, you have done one of the greatest things you will ever do..." Sister Hinckley

We went down to the marina to get Saige's pictures taken for the Berry Princess Contest. We took advantage of the time we had there to sit on the edge of the dock and dip our toes in the water. Ridge loved watching the boats go by. Saige loved getting her feet wet then making footprints on the dock. We had a talk about why God created water, seagulls, boats, fish, etc. Saige is always asking, "Why did God...". I don't always have the answers but I hope that through our talks my children will know that I have a testimony of our Father in Heaven and his love for us. Later we caught up with some friends to feed the carp and Ridge tried to catch them. Later we went home to enjoy an afternoon of bubble blowing. I got super frustrated after the bubbles spilled for the 15th time! So this quote reminded me that I need to not wish away these years, not even the most frustrating days. I love my kids so so so much and cherish the moments we've created together. I am nervous about getting number 3 here. I don't feel like 8 weeks is long enough for me but hopefully by the time Kaeda's due date rolls around I will be more ready for the adventure and remember this quote by Sister Hinckley and not wish it away, even when it is tough.

Awesome post - and so much easier said than done - as long as you NEVER quit trying - you are succeeding. Thanks for the reminder - even for a Grandma it was needed.
